Dr. Beebe's Hormone-balancing Veggie Smoothie and Soup

In our conversation during our recent Woodall Wellness Podcast episode Naturopathic Insights into Pelvic Pain with Dr. Beebe Dericks, Dr. Beebe shared a couple recipes she has all of her fertility couples take together to support improved hormone balance and antioxidant stimulation. Please listen to our full discussion as I just love her perspective on the holistic, comprehensive view that is essential to supporting optimal women’s health and fertility but especially with managing complications like endometriosis, PCOS, period pain and fibroids.

    • 1/2 organic cucumber

    • 1 large organic carrot

    • 2 stalks organic celery

    • 4-6 organic kale leaves

    • 1-2 organic green apples

    • 1 cup wild blueberries

    • Optional: fresh ginger, turmeric, flax, chia

    Preparation

    1. Fill high-powered blender (we use the Vitamix) canister with 20+ ounces filtered water, tea juice (recipe above) or mix (we use a Berkey water filter).

    2. Blend on high for 1-2 minutes.

    Bastyr Soup

This is a variation on the soup served in the Bastyr University Cafeteria (a place Dr. Beebe and myself have eaten from frequently while in school). An easy way to get some extra veggies in, especially in the colder months!

    Ingredients

Equal parts organic, skin on: Celery, carrots, potatoes, cabbage.

Homemade pasture-raised beef or chicken bone broth, or my Immune Boosting Bone Broth

Note: okay to sub sweet potatoes for potatoes and or omit and add extra veggies as desired

    Preparation

    1. Simmer in a protein rich broth until vegetables are tender.

    2. Puree, season with sea salt and enjoy!
